台湾,我们来了!

不久前,我刚从台湾回来。
那八天的旅程,真的,真的很开心。
如果时间能停留,我会希望能停留在台湾的日子。

十二月八日,我们,往台湾飞去了。

As soon as we thought we could fly, we face our first hiccup of the trip. Technical issue, that the technician can't resolve within a short period of time. At first, it's just a 10 minutes delay, but after almost an hour, the crew mention that we are required to change flight (for safety purpose). So without any other choice, we alight the flight and head over to another gate to board another plane.

In other words, it's a 2 hours delay from our expected flight. Only manage to take off at 4+ pm, instead of 1.50 pm. Since we are taking budget airline, means there's no entertainment devices, and also no food provided. Due to the space constraint, it will be uncomfortable for people who are tall and people who are chubbier. For a fun size person like me, will find it still manageable, unless someone beside you is much bigger in size. (Tips: if you're taking budget airline, bring some snacks on board if you're going to take a 4-5 hours flight cause you'll get really hungry. They do provided food ordering on board, but there's limited choice and supply. Also, bring along earpiece and download some movies in your device beforehand to keep you entertained)

Because of the 2 hours delay in Singapore due to the technical issue, we are behind time when we reach Taiwan. Collected our luggage and head out of the gate as soon as possible. Did a little check on the currency rates at the airport, and it's better than the rates provided in Singapore. (Tips: you can actually change your currency over in Taiwan instead, but of course, if you want to change currency in Singapore, you can head over to Arcade @ Raffles Place or the money changer over at CK Department Store @ Chinatown.)

First time we did after we are out of gate, get our prepaid card. So we actually got our card from 台湾大哥大. We got the 10 Days Pass, because we are there for 8 days, so I think getting the 10 days will be much worthy compared to 7 days. Both same price, just the usage and the airtime difference. To be honest, you don't need so much airtime in Taiwan, cause who else can you call except your mates. (Tips: once you exit from the gate @ 台湾桃园国际机场第一航夏, turn right, and you can find the prepaid card selling counters. There's 3 or 4 telecoms, their price is around the same. So please do research on the coverage and stuffs. But to me, 台湾大哥大 have got good coverage so I'll recommend it, and it's something like Singtel.)

After getting our prepaid and also some snacks from the convenient store, we head over to take the bus 1819 to  台北車站(Taipei Main Station). It cost us NT$125 (appox. SGD$ 5.40) per ticket, and the ride to Taipei Main Station is around 40-50 mins. We then change to take Metroto 西门 (Xi Men Station), which cost us NT$20 (SGD$0.86) and it's only a station different. So if you're staying at 西门丁 or somewhere near 忠孝 (Zhong Xiao) District, you can take bus 1819 to Taipei Main Station then change Metro. It might take a longer time, but it's much cheaper. I mean if you're arriving Taiwan at night, there's nothing much you can do also, so why not just take bus to your resident district?

Before we head to our apartment, we grab our dinner-cum-supper along 西门丁.Even though it's near 11 pm, but the streets are still busy, and there's still street food operating. So, we grabbed 豪大大鸡排, fresh milk tea, BBQ Squid, Taiwan Beer, Microwaved Fried Chicken. One good thing about our apartment area, there's like a lot of convenient stores. Like there's three (3) 7-11, two (2) Family Mart.

By the time we reach the apartment, it's around 12 midnight. Settled down, wash up, had our supper, and we've to rest in order to have enough energy for the next day. Only manage to rest at 3 am, going 4.

End of day 1
